New Motivation
With the new relationship came new motivation. I found myself working harder than ever before. I found myself seeking out jobs and contacting individuals about jobs like I never had before. A month later, I landed an interview with Carmel-Clay Parks.
Talk about excited, this was one of the best parks departments in Indiana. It wasn't a great paying job, nor was it management, but it allowed for quick promotion if you worked hard enough.
I accepted the position the next week and began searching for an apartment. We found two that I wanted, and we signed the papers. However, my girlfriends transfer for work fell through and we were stuck. I decided to turn the job down as much as I wanted.
I was still motivated though and continued to apply for new positions. Several interviews later and I landed another great opportunity. This time, many things had changed. The relationship I was in was changing and our dynamic was failing. We had lost touch with each other and lost support for each other's dreams. I turned down the job to support her goals and ambitions.
Looking back today I question that decision. I would have enjoyed the pay, but I don't think I would have been happy. She and I would have split and I would be working extremely long hours.
